AUTUMN SALE – 25% off all jewellery – Coupon Code: AUTUMN25

Well, the title tells you most of what you need to know. This weekend you can get 25% off any jewellery currently in the Etsy shop. Just enter the coupon code AUTUMN25 when you check out. It’s months and months since I last did a promotion like this and I won’t be doing another before Christmas. In truth, I’m unsure when I’ll do another sale in the future because once I get the silver items listed, offering discounts will be less easy. So, head over now to take advantage!

Here are a few of the pieces currently available…a-murmuring-progress

Smitten Charity Jewellery Auction, in aid of Mind

For the last couple of years I’ve participated in a fabulous fundraising event, donating jewellery to be auctioned to raise funds for different charities. It is organised by Claire Braunbarth of Smitten Beads, with able support from Lindsay Phillipson and Kate Floate, and goes by the name, So Good I’m Smitten. And, all the jewellery that is made and donated is created by Smitten customers using some of the lovely beads that Claire sells. In 2014 we raised over £1200 for the The Alzheimer’s Society, and last year over £1800 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year’s charity is Mind, the mental health charity. As you may or may not know, it’s a cause that means a great deal to me; and, with NHS mental health services being ever more stretched, underfunded, and cut back, alternative sources of support are particularly vital right now. The auction takes place online, on a dedicated Facebook page. It’s really easy to participate; you don’t have to sign up or join anything. You just need a Paypal account to make your payment/donation – and a desire to own some lovely jewellery. You can see an album of all the jewellery that is available here. As you’ll see, the reserve prices are set at a very affordable rate. The auction starts today (15th July) at 5pm and runs until 8pm on Sunday evening (17th July). Here are the pieces I’ve donated. I’ve mixed in some of my ceramic pieces with the Smitten supplies.

Words (a few) and Pictures

Yeah… It’s been another while. I’ve recently streamlined my writing commitments for other blogs – which means I’m not doing them any more – in an effort to find more time in my days. One thing I’m hoping to do is write more posts, and fuller posts, here. I used to make such an effort when I started this blog. Now, as you may well have noticed, it’s become more of a photo stream of new jewellery.  Inevitably, since my last post, I’ve built up the usual pile of pieces that I’ve yet to share here. These have all been listed on Etsy, although some have sold. beloved 2

These (above) are reserved. I really like them and kinda want to make more variations on the design but, annoyingly, the principal ingredients are all from different US Etsy shops and, well, the new US-UK shipping price is just crazy. Which means I’m barely buying from the States any more.

at north farm 1

If there’s anyone out there (in the States) who fancies receiving a clutch of parcels and forwarding them on to me as one lot, let me know! I’ll pay in beads!

And beneath each layer, another 1

I really love this necklace. I like the tiny dot of red amongst all the neutrals. I loved the pendant when I made it and was surprised when it didn’t go. Must have been meant to be. I’m not sure everyone is as mad keen as I am for the whole off-white, dirty-white palette, but I keep reaching for it.

after the weeping 1

Moving on, you know sometimes you make something and think, ‘Yes! That’s a whole new good thing! I like it. I’ll make more!’. And then, a while later, something starts to niggle at you….’Hmmmm…. have I seen something like this before somewhere?’

A murmuring progress

That’s kinda what happened with the pink drops on these earrings. It occurred to me that Robyn Cove had potentially made something similar. I went and had a quick search and, yes, there were some bell shaped pieces not unlike these. Gah! So, I didn’t make more. I made the one pair I had pale pink (not at all Robyn) and used them myself rather than sell them. I hope that gets me off the hook.

A Regal and Excellent AwkwardnessThe porcelain teeth in the bracelet below are another thing of mine that didn’t get snapped up. Which, again, is good or I wouldn’t have been able to make this. bones and cement

I like the simultaneous complementarity and dissonance you get with the pearls and the teeth.

Fuel for fire

I’m currently working on a batch of beads that I’m hoping will be ready in the next couple of weeks. It’s been a bit of a struggle because until I sat down to start working on them, I hadn’t been giving bead making enough thought.

Feverfew 1

What had I been thinking about? Well, it’s a whole new thing that I haven’t even found time to mention here! I started doing silversmithing classes last Autumn. Initially, my aim was to get more comfortable with simple things like soldering but it’s grown into a bit of an obsession. From mid-Feb into early March, it was taking up much of my waking thought.

I have lots more to say and show on this subject but it’ll have to wait until I have taken some pictures.

On that note I’ll leave you with the rest of this recent batch of new pieces. I’ll be back soon(-ish) with the new beads and, of course, a fresh load of new jewellery.

SALE!! And a sneaky bonus….

To celebrate that January is behind us, I’m having a sale in the jewellery shop. I know, February is also pretty bleak, so the discount code is MERRYFEB25, which will give you 25% off all jewellery. New jewellery is a fine way to bring a bit of cheer to a grey day. And it’s months since I had a sale so it’s a good time to buy. Here’s some of the pieces that are available.

A little extra thing: I’ve just spotted that I’m two sales off a significant sales milestone. Whoever purchases the 400th item will receive an extra treat! And, thinking about it, I guess shopper 399 should get a little something too!

So, here’s the code again: MERRYFEB25. And here’s another link to the shop.

Xmas Posting Deadlines and New Earrings

Evening all! I hope you’re contending okay with all the pre-xmas stuff. I’m happy to be winding down a little now. I haven’t done any Christmas craft fairs this year (and I’d be lying if I said I’ve missed them), but I have been pretty busy making jewellery and listing it in the Etsy shop. (I’ve also been working away on new beads and setting up my new mini metalwork space(!) – more on that soon.) If you’re in the States, there’s still time to get yourself some Christmas treats. Royal Mail are giving Tuesday, 15th December as the last date for post to be delivered in the US in time for Christmas day. I’ll be doing post office runs tomorrow and on Tuesday, so now’s the time to get your orders in. For details of the last shipping dates for all other countries, please refer to this chart. There’s still time to get items sent to most European destinations, and also Scandinavia. I’ve just listed a little crop of new earrings, including some new favourites! BIRTHDAY SALE – 25% OFF!!

So, yeah, it’s that time of year again: me getting that bit closer to 40. As is customary, I’m not going to be having any wild celebrations, but it’s also customary for me to offer a discount code so you can make a saving and get yourself a present. The bead shop is rather bare but I’ve just topped up the jewellery shop with lots of new good things in the last day or so (including some real favourites), so I’m offering 25% off all jewellery this weekend. The coupon code is BIRTHDAY25 – just enter it in the little box marked ‘Apply Coupon Code’ when you check out on Etsy. Here’s all the new things that I’ve listed in the last couple of days. (PS. yes, I’ve copped out on putting in all the bead makers again – faaaar to many to mention right now!)

Bead Shop Sale!

So, I must be brief because Ive had far too little sleep and I’m struggling with the simplest of things. This is just to say that there’s a lil’ sale going on in the bead shop. You can get 25% off all beads if you use the coupon code SAVE25 when you checkout. The sale runs through the weekend, until Sunday night / Monday morning. Here’s a few of the things you could bag.

Final day of Sale, plus things and stuff

I’ve done a woeful job of promoting it but today is the last day of the Spring sale in my jewellery shop.  In case you don’t know, I’m offering 25% off all jewellery, including a good number of pieces that have already been reduced. All you need to do is apply the coupon code SPRING25 when you check out. This means you can get this bracelet for £22.50, which seems a crazy price, frankly.  (Click on the links below the pictures to go straight to the shop listing.)

Folksy

Sometimes you just want make space and what have you… Many of the items in the ‘Sale’ section of the shop will be removed and no longer available from tomorrow, and the price of those that remain will be put back up. So, it’s now or never on a good few items…

Aside from all this, I thought I’d share a few pics of other things that have been happening, like you should do on a blog. On Thursday, the gallingly good Caroline Dewison of Blueberribeads shared a post on Art Jewelry Elements showing some stamps that she had made by lino-cutting. This is the sort of thing I have been meaning to do, but I hadn’t managed to get my finger out and do it. Thanks to Caroline, I finally gave it a go.  As Caroline said in her post, it’s often not really desirable to use commercially produced stamps and textures, and I generally try to avoid doing so. I made some plaster moulds whilst I was still doing pottery classes last year and I’ve loved having them to use. I wish I had the opportunity to make more. I do own some moulding compound but I always feel I should be all organised and have everything planned before I use it, and that sort of thing tends not to happen in my world. The beauty of the lino-cutting thing is that you can just have a bit of a doodle and see what you come up with, and the materials are relatively inexpensive so it’s no great disaster if you bodge it up. I’ve got a little mound of carved lino bits now.  I’ve yet to try them out properly on any clay yet but I did try a few bits, just to see if I was on the right track.

And as you can see here, you can save up any stray offcuts and carve them to make textures for rolling beads over. I’m looking forward to seeing these glazed.

What else? There’s been some sun the last few days – the proper stuff that actually makes you feel that Spring might just be a possibility. Dexy has be sprauncing around on the terrace sniffing the air…

Thank the lord for pet insurance. Apologies for the cruddy little mobile phone pictures. Here’s some better shots of him that I’ve had on my desktop, waiting for to be shared, for an age.

Other than that, I don’t have much to report. I’ll leave you with a tune that’s been buzzing round my head for the last day or so…

SPRING SALE – 25% off all jewellery

Yes, I know it’s not very Spring-y yet but I felt like it was time to get the house in order anyway. I have yet to really get going with designing new jewellery for sale this year, what with the beads and magazine pieces and other stuff. Before I do start making and listing any new stock in the jewellery shop, I thought I’d have a bit of a sale. I’m offering 25% off all jewellery, including items that are already in the ‘SALE’ section and have already been reduced. The discount code is SPRING25. This means that there are lots of big ol’ bargains available. Such as, numerous bracelets for between £15 and £18. (Click the titles to head straight to the listing.)

There are plenty of other ‘sale’ items that can be reduced further with the coupon code, as well as all the full price items.  The sale will run until the end of next weekend, closing on Sunday night (8th March). After that, a number of items, including most of the ‘sale’ stock, will be removed from the shop, as will the sale section. So, if you’ve had your eye on something now is the time to grab it. Here’s a link to the shop. And that code, again? SPRING25 Cheers!

Black Friday – Cyber Monday Discount Codes / new jewellery

So, it’s Black Friday – Cyber Monday weekend, which means it’s time to offer some discounts.  I’m keeping it simple and offering 20% off all jewellery and all beads. The coupon code you need to enter when you check out is: BLACKCYBER20. !! And it’s active right now !! – through till the end of Monday, 1st December. This will be the last sale I have before Christmas, so if you’ve had your eye on something, now would be a good time to go shopping. The bead shop isn’t as full as I’d like but there’s still a couple of pages of items up for grabs. There are lots of pieces in the jewellery shop. They’ll soon be joined by this lot. I’ve been busy making winter-y pieces, partly in preparation for the Christmas market in Frome.  If you’d like any of these pieces listing now so you can take advantage of the code when paying, do let me know, via Etsy or Facebook.

When it gets to this time of year I just want everything white.

ice collar 1(ceramic spikes – Scorched Earth; porcelain spines – Something to do Beads)

It would be nice if the background of my photos was white but the winter light won’t allow it.  The spike craze lasts through every season…  I’m a bit taken with this next bracelet; If it doesn’t sell I won’t be too upset.

And that’s the lot. As I said, I’m happy to list any of these if you want to use the discount code – BLACKCYBER20 – to get 20% off.  And here’s a link to the bead shop and the jewellery shop so you can have a little browse, see if there’s anything you fancy…

Before I go: Happy Thanksgiving to all of you celebrating out there!
