So, er, happy new year. That it is the end of January and I am only just getting around to posting here is pretty representative of how things have been with me thus far this year. I haven’t been idle. I had planned to spend xmas making myself the rings I’ve never had chance to make for myself, which is a job that ended up running into the start of January instead. That done (mostly), I’ve been focused on making beads. There are a lot. It may end up being the biggest bead shop update I’ve ever done. I’m pretty much on to glazing now. I can see it taking some time… I’m hoping to get the update done in the first half of February, but it’s likely it will end up being mid February. Also, I’ve made a batch of beads for sawdust firing. I just need to establish if that’s really possible at this time of year. If it is, I’ll be adding them in the update too – assuming they come out okay.
Really, I’m still in a pretty hibernatery mode; just hunkered down making and avoiding the outside. Oh, and I’ve had bad anaemia, which has been surprisingly debilitating. It took me all my resolve to get my act together and photograph all the jewellery I made over Christmas. All of the following have been listed on Etsy, although some has sold or been reserved. Here’s a link to the shop.
Until next time, ta-ra!
So, this last few days have been predominately taken up with listing all of the last of 2016’s silver pieces. It’s been quite a thing, let me tell you. I was anxious to get them in the shop asap in case any of them suggest themselves as possible Christmas presents – for your loved ones or yourself. Obviously, there’s still a good amount of time to send out UK orders. I do, however, send out a lot of jewellery to the States and the deadline for shipping to the US for Christmas is coming up this week, on Thursday, 15th December. This is a date given by Royal Mail, and a full list of dates for Christmas shipping can be found by *clicking here*. As you’ll see, the deadlines for numerous European countries are also coming up this week.
Anyway, on with the jewellery. First, new rings:
A couple are no longer available, but the rest can be found on Etsy. As can all these earrings, which feature lovely stones and, in some cases, my ceramics.
And finally, I have made these simpler and less expensive post earrings combining deliciously dark silver and my ceramics, and the odd mini cab here and there. These would be particularly ‘giftable’, I reckon…
Tempted? Here’s another link to the shop. I’ll be back before the holidays; until then, all of the bestest to you!
You join me on a sorely sleep-deprived sunday. The older I get, the more ill-equipped I am to cope without a good 7+ hours, so this post is unlikely to be as sparklingly conversational as I hoped. One good thing about this lack of sleep is that it leaves me unable to do more than sit in a chair with some kind of brain funk. Anything more creative or requiring fully firing synapses isn’t going to happen. Okay, that’s not really a good thing, but it does mean that I’ve done a long, looooooong day of listing stuff. Hoooooooo! So now there’s a stack of new jewellery in the shop! Including a surprisingly large number of pinkish things. I know pink is widely frowned upon, but in the right quantity and the right shade, well, I’m fine with it.
I’ve also been drawn back to a palette I used to obsess over.
And, of course, there are neutrals and off whites…
More unusually, I have !necklaces!…
And also bracelets! – just the two…
The next job will be getting the last lot of silver pieces in the shop asap. They are currently at the assay office. Once that’s done, I plan to start winding down for Christmas. I’ve decided that I’m not going to drive myself up the wall trying to do a bead shop update before xmas, but I have already started on a fresh pile of beads and plan to keep up the relaxing clay-times over the hols. So, there should be a pretty mammoth shop update in the new year.
I’ll be back as soon as possible with the new silver things. (Can you tell I’m anxious to get on with having a break?) Ciao for now!
Have I mentioned my love of spikes? Surely I must have before now. In any case, if you visit this blog at all regularly you may well have noticed that they frequently appear in what I make. When I was thinking of shapes to include in my silver, it was inevitable that spikes would feature eventually. I have spiky rings and spiky earrings, and I’ve just listed them all on Etsy today.
Shop This Way!
Let’s start with these. They’re a variation on the circle designs that I shared yesterday, with the added inclusion of some mini cabochons. There’ll be more of these. I just needed a break from sawing those circles!
Now another little series. Sometimes you just want the thing itself clad in a simple silver setting. When I saw this chunky square of green rhyolite I knew that was what I wanted to do. Like the shape of the stone was design enough. There’s something really pleasing about the shape – and in this colour, it has a slightly retro, seventies look.
This stone also has a kinda vintage, 70s look.
This one has a slightly different feel, but it still suits little embellishment.
These are now all listed on Etsy.
It’s been some time since I last got some jewellery made and out there in the world. What with the bead-making, the silvering, a rare trip away, and some other things I can’t actually recall right now (and wouldn’t interest anyone terribly), life has been rather full – for me, at least. But, after I’d got all the beads from the last update sent out, I rewarded myself with a few days of non-stressy, non-torchy, jewellery making. Heaven… It seems I’m still struggling to make anything other than earrings. Whilst I say that this jewellery making spell was supposed to be un-stressy, I did have a little catalogue of other ‘things to do’ nagging away at me. It seems that I couldn’t set my head to settling down and designing a whole necklace, and I failed to make any bracelets either… That’s now a ‘thing to do’ in itself. I did manage one necklace…
(I’m still torn over which of these different displays works best, and which I should use as my main photo on Etsy….)
Now, on to the earrings….
(There is a real and present danger that the pair above are going to be whisked out of my shop and into my ears.)
(Hate that blue-ness! Stooopid seasonal light!)
That’s the lot! What’s more, they are all listed here on Etsy!
Could this be my briefest blog post ever? …
Quite possibly! I listed all these on Etsy this afternoon, along with this bracelet…
… which may hold more whimsy than I can stand. But, when I connected the wee face with the ‘eyed’ Indo glass, I just couldn’t stop myself!
