BSBP Reveal!

Oh dear, oh dear… Today is the reveal day for the 8th Bead Soup Blog Party - something I only realised yesterday evening. I thought it was on Sunday. (I’ve not done at all well with dates recently!) I’ve had to dash around this morning getting my photos taken. So, without further ado, I’d better get on with things. I have made a heap of stuff with the wonderful soup that the lovely Lori Anderson sent me.

For a full run through of the ingredients, head here. The first piece that I made was this bracelet, using some of the recycled glass nuggets.

frosted shells

(ceramic heart charm - Bo Hulley Beads)

I’ve been wondering what to do with these vintage shell beads for some time. The glass nuggets were just the right size. Next, I turned my attention to the beautiful lampwork focals, made by Jane Perala, and the stock of delicious czech glass.

cluster strand bracelet

Do you see those vivid blue spacers? I was quite taken with them and there were loads in my soup so I simply stranded the rest of them together to make this skinny wrap bracelet.

lagoon wrap

(bronze charm - Thea Elements)

The main focal and clasp that Lori sent were both sweet Thai Hill silver butterflies. I wanted to combine them in a necklace reminiscent of pinned butterfly displays. This sort of thing:

butterflies

So I collected together a few more butterflies from my stash and made several attempts at getting them all to hang one above the other in a necklace, with little success. Then I had a brainwave. Why not just make a number of necklaces that can be layered up to form a column of butterflies?

(ceramic butterfly - Marsha Neal, ceramic drops - Scorched Earth)

It was hell’s delight to photograph, but I’m quite pleased with my solution. My soup included a stack of pewter rings which I’ve wired together to form my own chain. Here’s a detail, showing the clasp.

I had some of the chain left so I mixed it with more of the czech glass in a multi strand bracelet.

Earrings next, three pairs:

(ceramic droppers: Scorched Earth)

earrings 2

(enamel leaves - Gardanne)

earrings 3

(lampwork discs - Helen Chalmers)

My favourite bead was one of the large lampwork pieces, so I decided to treat myself to a simple pendant piece - a bit of a BSBP souvenir!

And finally, another recycled glass and vintage bead combo:

geo bracelet

(ceramic bead - Round Rabbit)

Phew! Told you there was a lot. I’m so grateful to Lori for sending such a bounteous and beautiful soup (and for organising the whole thing!) - Thank you, Lori! Here’s the soup that I sent to her.

BSBP: From Lori to me

Okay, I’m back to share the fabulous soup that Lori sent to me. But where to start? It arrived beautifully packaged.

cute bag

How sweet is this wee baggie? Love the vintage button particularly (of course!) There was yet more pleasing packaging inside this.

gift boxes

Both of these boxes arrived with beautiful bows, but I’d already stuck my eager, greedy beak inside the dark one before I remembered I was supposed to be taking pictures. Now for the wonders inside. I’m crazy about these.

lampwork glass

The large ones are from Jane Perala and they’re fab. I’m glad I got them as part of this soup because if I’d got them any other way I’d be sure to hoard them for forever. Lori can’t remember who made the little lampies but they’re very nice too. And guess what? These aren’t even the focal(s). Look -

focal and clasp

Apparently Lori has been hoarding these for some time. How kind?! They’re Thai Hill Tribe silver (99%), which I’ve never used before. The smaller butterfly is a clasp. I have a bit of an idea brewing for these. Hope I can make it work! I don’t tend to use bright silver very often so that’s going to be a new thing to think on. And while we’re talking silver…

pewter and silver

Lori also included these dinky sterling lantern-ish spacers. So much silver! The large twists are pewter, as are the little rings. I’ve got a bit a plan for those too. There’s more:

glass and pearls

I love these big coin pearls! And a bit of a coincidence: the faux sea glass looks very similar to the recycled glass that I sent to Lori. I do like its frostiness! And finally, I’d mentioned to Lori that I love czech glass…

czech glass

See how the bag was neatly matched to what was inside! Here’s everything together:

Didn’t I do well?! To see what I sent to Lori head here.

Obviously, I can’t begin to say a big enough ‘thank you’ to Lori, but

THANK YOU, LORI !!!!!!!!!
