BSBP Reveal!

Oh dear, oh dear… Today is the reveal day for the 8th Bead Soup Blog Party - something I only realised yesterday evening. I thought it was on Sunday. (I’ve not done at all well with dates recently!) I’ve had to dash around this morning getting my photos taken. So, without further ado, I’d better get on with things. I have made a heap of stuff with the wonderful soup that the lovely Lori Anderson sent me.

full soup from lori

For a full run through of the ingredients, head here. The first piece that I made was this bracelet, using some of the recycled glass nuggets.

frosted shells

(ceramic heart charm - Bo Hulley Beads)

I’ve been wondering what to do with these vintage shell beads for some time. The glass nuggets were just the right size. Next, I turned my attention to the beautiful lampwork focals, made by Jane Perala, and the stock of delicious czech glass.

cluster strand bracelet

Do you see those vivid blue spacers? I was quite taken with them and there were loads in my soup so I simply stranded the rest of them together to make this skinny wrap bracelet.

lagoon wrap

(bronze charm - Thea Elements)

The main focal and clasp that Lori sent were both sweet Thai Hill silver butterflies. I wanted to combine them in a necklace reminiscent of pinned butterfly displays. This sort of thing:

butterflies

So I collected together a few more butterflies from my stash and made several attempts at getting them all to hang one above the other in a necklace, with little success. Then I had a brainwave. Why not just make a number of necklaces that can be layered up to form a column of butterflies?

(ceramic butterfly - Marsha Neal, ceramic drops - Scorched Earth)

It was hell’s delight to photograph, but I’m quite pleased with my solution. My soup included a stack of pewter rings which I’ve wired together to form my own chain. Here’s a detail, showing the clasp.

I had some of the chain left so I mixed it with more of the czech glass in a multi strand bracelet.

(ceramic heart - Blueberribeads)

Earrings next, three pairs:

(ceramic droppers: Scorched Earth)

earrings 2

(enamel leaves - Gardanne)

earrings 3

(lampwork discs - Helen Chalmers)

My favourite bead was one of the large lampwork pieces, so I decided to treat myself to a simple pendant piece - a bit of a BSBP souvenir!

(ceramic leaf - Scorched Earth; ceramic coin - Majoyoal)

And finally, another recycled glass and vintage bead combo:

geo bracelet

(ceramic bead - Round Rabbit)

Phew! Told you there was a lot. I’m so grateful to Lori for sending such a bounteous and beautiful soup (and for organising the whole thing!) - Thank you, Lori! Here’s the soup that I sent to her.

  1. Beautiful color combinations! It is hard to pick just one, but the earrings with small hearts would complete my office look.

  2. Very beautiful design. They are all so unique and gorgeous, great idea for the butterfly necklace. Like them all :)

  3. My first visit on the tour!

Holy heck but you really have a knack with color and texture (and you have to show me how you make your beaded clasp loops so perfect!). But can I say how much I’m wanting that butterfly medley? I am SO into long necklaces and I love it love it love it. So if you’re selling, let me know!

I also love the first set of earrings (love the colors) and I’m tickled at how many different ways you used Jane’s beads. Way more creative than what I did with my portion of the set!

Thank you so much for pushing me out of my comfort zone and writing such a terrific blog post. It was an honor to be your partner!

  4. *wiping drool off screen* Wow!! Gorgeous designs - all of them! Not sure I can pick a fave but definitely keep going back to that butterfly necklace that you had such fun (my keyboard just kept trying to replace the “h” with “k”) 😉 photographing ;)))) and the “Scorched Earth” earrings. Beautiful job

  5. Wow! I love it all but the stacked butterfly necklace takes the prize! When I read what you were trying to do, I had to skip ahead to see your solution. Perfect! And versatile….

  6. Your designs are all so awesome!! Great job using everything so creatively! Thanks for posting the links to all the other participants too… I only made it through the first 10 or so, but it’s so interesting to see that everyone has a totally different style. Fun!

  7. So many stunning pieces - love what you created with Jane’s beads (her beads are so drool worthy!). Love, love, love the butterfly necklace and your earrings are awesome! Stupendous work!

  8. I am in awe of your talent. Love the layered butterfly necklaces . what a great solution to your problem. so much so that we think “what problem” lol
    lots of lovely inspiration here.

  9. Claire, you’ve done it again. Created so many beautiful and unique pieces. I love every one of them. But the butterfly necklaces are just so fantastic. You are such a great designer, and I am always so inspired by your work. x

  10. Each of your pieces is stunning. The butterfly necklaces are so charming. Am a big bracelet fan and each one of your is so unique - especially love the blue spacers with the chain (if by chance it’s for sale, I would love to buy it). I was inspired by one of your posts on Art Bead Scene to make earrings with my Bead Soup ingredients - I expect I’ll be back more than once to check out these designs.

  11. Each piece is so beautifully finished and the your colour choices are fantastic! The second bracelet with the bright blue spacers is especially vibrant. Another favourite of mine is the multi strand butterfly creation. What a great idea and perfect execution!

  12. Gorgeous designs, all of them!! I’m in love with the butterfly necklace, and the ceramic dropper earrings too! Oh, and those red art deco beads in the last piece and the golden ones in the first piece (vintage shell beads?) knock me out!

  13. Oh god your pieces are magnificent! I am in love with the first bracelet and the last necklace, I love how you didn’t produce some matchy piecesa ll in blu but incorporated so many different items. Stunning.

  14. You are such a talented lady and each and every design you make is mouth dropping gorgeous. These designs are no exception. Oh that butterfly necklace!! Love love love it.

  15. So many wonderfully fresh pieces here. I haven’t read through the other comments, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be alone in saying that your butterfly garden is pretty amazing! Great idea to layer, I’ve never tried making necklaces to be worn together deliberately.

  16. All your pieces are amazing: you’re a very creative soul, and it shows in your unique and gorgeous designs. I love the colours and texture of each and every piece. But I fell in love with your butterfly necklaces idea. The versatility of that set is amazing - love!

  17. That was some fantastic soup! That layered butterfly necklace was genius! I love the way it looks! Really like all of your earrings and the souvenir piece you created.

  18. I love how your photos really show the texture of everything so well. The ceramic drop bead earrings are perhaps my favorite, but all of your pieces are wonderful. The long necklace is breathtaking.

  19. I always love your work, and this soup is no exception! I especially love the two chunky bracelets with the glass and vintage beads. I’m feeling very inspired by those!

  20. Oh my oh my you are incredible, love the colors, the designs are awesome, can’t pick a favorite they are all gorgeous!

  21. So much lusciousness!! I love the hues of the soup that Lori sent to you, but it seems you didn’t stick strictly to that palette at all. You took it to unexpected places and let those beads really speak for themselves. And what they’re saying. . .it’s ALL good stuff :)

  22. I really enjoy looking over and every thing you made with your generous soup from Lori. What an honor to be paired with her! (I was last year, and I loved it!) Your beaded loop and button clasps have such a nice weight to them. They really look great. The butterfly necklace is a treasure. Loved it all. Nice work!

  23. All those beautiful pieces!!! So creative and charming, wow!!! ♥♥♥ Love your pictures too, the first bracelet is stunning! All your work is great and ‘well balanced’!

  24. As I scrolled down the page I kept saying wow wow wow over again! Love every single piece you create and the way you photographed and presented them are top notch! Very inspiring!

  25. WOW! I love all the pieces you made! I would love to buy them all too! You do wonderful work and everything looks so fun! Love the blues and greens, earrings and bracelets. I also love the silver butterfly necklace and how you layered that piece. Great job!!

  26. What a fabulous collection of designs. It helps that it’s almost all in my all time favorite color palette. But the designs and attention to detail are what really make them shine. I really like your solution with the butterfly necklace. My layered necklace gave me grief too but I finally got it. I think your way gives it so much more versatility. I have more than a couple of favorites in this collection. I love the bracelet with the lampwork focal and the bracelet with the ceramic heart. They’re both gorgeous and all 3 pairs of earrings are just so fabulous. I’ve never seen the long beadcaps before the kind of look tribal. The caps remind me of a door-stopper. Hmmm, maybe a trip to Lowes is in my future. I really enjoyed my visit and all your designs.

  27. Lori has some awesome beads in her stash and you most definitely did them justice! Saw a pair of the earrings on Pinterest, I don’t remember whose board but I loved them then and now :) Adore the butterfly necklaces, love that you made them a layered set. The heart bracelet, is just so cute! Great soup!! Great chef!
