New jewellery, including hoarding hop

It’s been a bit of a bitty week here – a certain amount of life noise and a number of disrupted plans.  I started out planning to make new beads and I did actually make a batch, but I’ve had to put them to one side for now because the heat was causing problems with the metal paints and patinas.  Still, I managed to get some new jewellery made.  A while ago I signed up for Lori Anderson’s Bead Hoarder’s Blog Hop.  I’d been wondering if I’d find time to get it done, but I managed to get something made today.  The idea is that participants will make themselves make something with beads they’ve been hoarding.  I’ve already looked at some of the other participants’ blogs and they’ve been far firmer with themselves than I have.  I took the opportunity to make – finally! -something I’d been mentally planning for an age.  Last Christmas I took part in a secret santa swap in a facebook bead group.  I was paired with the lovely Bo Hulley, and besides getting some of her fab ceramic beads, I got a selection of other beauties, including some pyrite chunks, some sodalite tumbles and a dinky black agate bird.  I started imagining this bracelet I’d make and in the following months I’ve been accumulating things to go in it, including a very nice clasp from Amanda Davie.   Today I finally stopped gathering and got making.

Here’s a better shot of the clasp.

I’ve just remembered that I have a set of fibre beads that I’d planned to include. I knew there was something else!  Ah, well…  I’ll include a list of the other participants at the end of the post so you can have a look at what they’ve come up with.  But, before you go, here’s some more new pieces.

  1. Claire, such great designs! All of them! I particularly like the first bracelet, something moody and dark about it in a very attractive way. And I am generally not attracted to “dark” themes. I love Amanda Davies box clasps. And I love the first earrings too. Fun and playful and interesting and I really would like to wear them. Do they happen to be for sale by any chance?

  2. These are great!! I looked through them and found myself going back up and through them again, and again, and again. I love designs that draw the eyes into them and I see more each time, appreciate little touches or bits of color or see a bead in another light. Great job – loved – thank you for sharing!!

    Laren :)

  3. SO excited to see your work! I love that bracelet, with the multiple chain, and I recently learned about Scorched Earth and just got some of her beads. And it’s ironic, but I’ve been hoarding some of Amanda Davies clasps, including a bird and a snow owl.

EXCELLENT work, and thank you so much for participating!!!!

    • No, thank you, Lori – for organising it. I hope you have fun using your Scorched Earth goodies and Amanda Davies clasps as you recover from your hospital stay. Thanks again, Claire

  4. wonderful makes Claire! I think that clasp could make anything really special but love what you gathered into that bracelet – even if it didn’t all make it in. I’m sure you will come up with a perfect piece for those too

    • Thank you, Monique! – I should do. I’m way behind on the AJE challenge. I have earrings from several weeks ago that I still haven’t pinned!

  5. Oh, I love that beautiful bracelet…it’s chunky and earthy and absolutely gorgeous. All your pieces could be described like this…I love your style!

    • Thanks Dana – I think I’m going to put the other beads into something else. Can’t face trying to work another strand into this bracelet!

  6. That blue bracelet, wow…and the ceramic drops earrings, gorgeous… Beautiful beads in your stash♥ and very very pretty jewellery here on your blog♥ just love it!

  7. Beautiful bracelet! I love how you gathered the components over several months – that 1 bracelet must have so many stories to tell. You make lovely jewellery – those earrings with Scorched Earth beads are gorgeous.

  8. I know I’m a bit late in commenting, but I just wanted to let you know that your pieces are lovely! I love, love, love the combination of pyrite and sodalite in the first bracelet–gorgeous! :)
